Istanbul, 1 July 2026 – Genel Transport, one of Türkiye’s long-established freight forwarders in the logistics sector, has successfully completed the SQAS – Safety & Quality Assessment for Sustainability assessment process, which is internationally recognized in the field of chemical logistics.
Developed by Cefic – the European Chemical Industry Council, the SQAS assessment system evaluates the practices of logistics service providers in the areas of health, safety, environment, quality, security, sustainability and corporate social responsibility through an independent assessment approach. Genel Transport’s successful completion of this process represents an important step that supports the company’s 38-year commitment to taking its safe, traceable, sustainable and customer-focused logistics service approach beyond customer expectations.
Founded in 1988, Genel Transport today provides services in air, sea, road and intermodal transport as well as project logistics, delivering value-added logistics solutions to leading companies that play an important role in Türkiye’s foreign trade, particularly in the chemical, aerospace, defense, fashion & garments and pharmaceutical industries. In addition to its service points in Türkiye, the company develops integrated logistics solutions for different industries through its strong agent network with local expertise in the countries where it operates, its sector-specific experience and its operational capabilities.
Genel Transport specializes in air, sea, road and intermodal transport in the field of chemical logistics and serves its customers with experienced teams in dangerous goods transportation. The SQAS assessment process, which only a limited number of companies successfully complete, has contributed to the company’s comprehensive review of its chemical logistics processes under the headings of health, safety, environment, quality, security and sustainability.
Genel Transport’s existing management system infrastructure is supported by standards focused on quality, customer satisfaction, environment, occupational health and safety, and information security, including ISO 9001, ISO 10002, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001. While the company’s GDP-related competence strengthens its quality and compliance infrastructure in pharmaceutical logistics operations, its AEO certificate contributes to supply chain security. The SQAS assessment process also contributes to further strengthening this integrated infrastructure in line with chemical logistics and sustainable supply chain expectations.
Genel Transport also makes use of digital solutions in the areas of sustainability and carbon management. Through carbon calculation technologies integrated into its operational software, the company can provide shipment-level carbon emission calculations upon customer request. This structure enables a more transparent and data-driven service for customers in environmental performance monitoring and shipment-based emissions reporting.
Genel Transport President & CEO Turgut Erkeskin, who has undertaken various roles over many years in national and international institutions representing the logistics sector, stated the following regarding the matter:
“We are pleased to have successfully completed our SQAS assessment process. This process has not only assessed our existing practices but has also contributed to our development in the areas of safety, quality, environment, sustainability and supplier management. As Genel Transport, we remain committed to our goal of providing our customers with reliable, sustainable and high-standard logistics solutions through our experienced teams and extensive agent network.”
Guided by its motto, “The World’s Favorite Turkish Forwarder” Genel Transport will continue to integrate the outputs obtained from the SQAS assessment process into its action plans through a continuous improvement approach and to develop safer, more traceable and more sustainable logistics solutions for its customers.
